Will Anyone Notice?
Former Republican Georgia Congressman Bob Barr has made it official that he is running for the Presidential endorsement on the Libertarian Party ticket. What is the response of the main stream media? Banner story, his entry to hurt John McCain, blah, blah blah!
Can we get real here? The only entry into the Presidential race that would hurt John McCain is if Texas Congressman Ron Paul were to decide, as he has hinted, that he would mount a third party bid. No, Jesse Ventura and Bob Barr are not on the radar screen as real contenders.
Look folks, if you want to reform Washington DC you are going to have to do it within the two party system. That means that either the Democrats or Republican faithful are going to have to stand up and reestablish the principles of their party. The Democrats have long since sold-out to the special interests of MoveOn.org, Code Pink and unions. I don't see any chance that they will change.
The Republican Party tried with their 1994 "Contract With America" but were betrayed by their own greed and corruption. However, it is the Republican base that still believes in the principles of Ronald Reagan Conservatism that can reestablish the right direction for America. But they better get moving fast.
Lets start by establishing a new "contract" with detailed plans to: balance the budget, stop illegal immigration, fix social security, end ear marks, make health care affordable again, and secure our energy independence by drilling in the Artic National Wildlife area in Alaska and off our coasts again. Finally, lets enforce these pledges with the American people with self imposed term limits.
America is waiting for leaders who will walk the walk not just talk and talk. These problems have been around for years and we need politicians who have the back bone to fix them. And we need them now!
