It's the Message - Stupid!

This morning the National Republican Party has awakened to it's third special election defeat (here) by the Democrats this year. We keep losing because of poor candidates and a message that says: "Vote GOP, we are a little better then the Democrats." When the voters are offered Democrat "Lite" they go for the real thing every time.

My friend Ed Morrissey at HOTAIR (here) has it right when he said that the GOP has not learned it's lesson from 2006. Too many of the issues that Conservatives care about are being ignored: less spending in Congress, less government intervention in our personal freedoms, smaller government, immigration reform, lower taxes, tort reform, free markets just to name a few.

I'm convinced that the country is still strongly Conservative but many of those voters have simply given up on the GOP. Why? Because they have been betrayed too many times by lies and poor leadership. We have elected what we were told were principled Conservatives who immediately became moderates once in office. Too many Republican's are lessening to "belt way" consultants that are completely out of touch with most America. No, Conservatism is not dead, it is alive and well and waiting for real, principled leadership and please don't try to tell me that is Ron Paul. So Conservative voters sent a message in 2006, and no one was lessening.

As Newt Gingrich warned last week, ominous clouds of another serious Congressional defeat are building. I think it's time to come in from the rain.

I have walked the streets of suburban America and would confirm that this dissolution with the Republicans is real. Rather than listening to our concerns, they seem to be holding the moderate (RINO) line. People need to see a true, clear, and consistent change to conservatism before they will trust the GOP again.

It would be interesting to hear a critique from The Professor of how DeLay, Boehner, and Blunt have strayed and twisted the intent of The Professor's Contract With America.

IMNSHO, while written with good intents, the Contract With America has had disasterous results.
